I really am updating the blog. I figure its been about a year so I should. One of my friends recently made a post and she made a good point. I'm not good at writing things down in journals. I'm not good at writing down memories at all. So, this blog is my only record of feelings, memory's ect.

So, this post is mainly for me. For me to be able to look back and remember. This being one of the hardest years so far of my life, I know I will want to look back on this so that one day I can say.....I know now why I had these trials and I am glad I can look back and my memories and the feelings I had at that time. Considering I ever know WHY I have the trials I do in this life. So, here goes.

I don't remember a whole lot from August to December of last year (since I last posted) Probably because it just wasn't as memorable as this year. So, i'll just start from this year.

From almost the start of 2010 i've had health issue after health issue. My health just seems to be gradually declining every month. And every month I tell myself that I can't keep doing this, I can't keep being sick everyday. I am done. But, every month I seem to get something else happen to me. Maybe once I accept that this is my new life and not be so negative about it then i'll start getting better. Who knows.

I live with chronic pain. Chronic pelvic and low back pain. I have a bladder disease called intersticial cystitis. For most people they actually really don't know their they're bladder exist unless they have to pee right? Well, I am reminded on a daily basis that I have one and its painful. If I eat the wrong thing, stress out to much, sit for to long, stand for to long I end up in a full on flare where my bladder feels like its on fire. I also feel like I constantly have a bladder infection. If you've ever had one you know what thats like. That's something that isn't necessarily new per say (I was diagnosed in 2007) but, has definately gotten 30 times worse this year. I also have endometriosis, which i'm sure is pretty familar to most. Endometriosis grows on everything in your lower abdominal, pelvic region. It CAN cause very painful periods, infertility, and chronic pelvic pain. Anyway, now that I have spilled those guts everywhere I will continue

In late January my short term insurance policy was up. I needed to renew but, couldn't find anyone who would take me. And the only insurance company that would accept me wanted me to pay a $13,000 condition specific deductible for my endometriosis(so basically if I had issues or surgery for that I had to pay that deductible) THEN if I had a$ 9,000 additional co pay for anything related to my kidney's and a $7,000 separate deductible for anything related to my bladder. So, basically I didn't have insurance. I may as well just be paying out of pocket right? At that time I decided that it would best to go full time at jetblue for the insurance. I really had no other choice if I wanted doctor care. Which I so desperately needed. So, I started full time and my insurance started Febuary 1st.

In late January I started to feel like I had kidney stones kidney stones. My pain was getting so bad that I decided it was time to go get a cat scan. My cat scan showed kidney stones AND gall stones. I thought seriously, I'm already dealing with periods every 2 weeks for some unknown reason migraines everytime that happens plus my bladder pain could my health possibly get worse? So, the kidney stones were small enough to pass and the gall stones would eventually cause issues if they were blocking anything. I decided that I didn't want to end up in the emergency room so I scheduled a time to get it out. Sure enough as the day got close I was really feeling those gall stones. Almost a month to the day after I had that removed I started feeling alot of pain in my back again. This time it was different. It wasn't like kidney stones. It started on a Friday night and I kept ignoring it. It gradually got worse. Saturday morning I cancelled my client and stayed in bed. It was bad. I ended up staying up the whole night in pain. Waited until the morning and told Richard I needed to go to the ER. I'm not one to just up and say take me to the ER I don't feel good, and I always wait way to long. They did another cat scan and said, you have another kidney stone. But, in addition to that you have a really really bad kidney infection. So, I was put on antibiotics. It was still really really bad on Monday. I was in alot of pain that no pain killers were helping. I called my doctor who told me to go back to the hospital. There they set me up for in home nursing and I recieved IV antibiotics for 5 days. Then for 2 more weeks I was on more antibiotics. The months following I had more bladder infections so I continued to stay on antibiotics.

n addition to that, in May I had surgery that was to hopefully help my bladder feel somewhat better and I began going to a Physical Therapist to help my pain. After what seemed to feel like things were kinda calming down I decided that it was time to address my other issue which I won't discuss much of. Basically I wasn't having what you would call a regular digestive system and alot of stomach pain. Turns out I have a colon infection called C-Diff. I took my first round of antibiotics and thought my infection was gone. After that I went into my GYN and talked to him about my endometriosis. He had suggested that alot of my pain was coming from my endometriosis and that it might be best to go in and remove it with a laser which hadn't been done for about 5 years afterwards. So, thats what I did the beginning of this month. Turns out, there was alot of endometriosis alot more than normal. (as if this stuff was normal to begin with!!!) He also thinks there may be endo growing in places that he can't see. Lovely! A week after my surgery I began having alot of stomach pain. Lets just say the pain was so bad that i'd rather be in labor. After enduring it for 12 hours through the night I decided I really needed to go to the doctor. I waited till he was there and talked to my Gi doctor. He told me to immediately come in. I did.....and he was like Kerra, I appreciate that you came here first BUT, why are you here...go over to the emergency room now. After doing a cat scan and finding a stone in my appendix and after like 10 hours of sitting there they decided they wanted to admit me. That night while at the hopsital I found out that I still had C-diff. So, on to a second round of antibiotics and a colonoscopy the next morning. NOT FUN! Avoid it at ALL costs! Lets just say I didn't sleep for like 48 hours. They decided that the stone in my appendix wasn't the cause of my pain, it was the infection. But, I won't be surprised if I have to have my appendix removed within the year.

Anyway, i'm done with my second round of antibiotics and I'm pretty sure its still not gone. I have to test again but, if I do still have it, I have to see a infectious disease specialist....whatever that is! So, that about sums it up for my year as far as my crappy health goes. By the way, before we move on to better things to talk about, let me warn you all.

My C-diff was cause by antibiotics. If you ever are put on antibiotics be careful and take a probiotic which builds up your health bacteria after its been killed or else THIS might happen to you!

By the way, if you've made it this far I hope you realize NOW why I haven't posted in a while and i'm surprised you've even read this far!

As for our family, Richard started working for jetblue in March and is happy to be working for a good company. I celebrated my 24th birthday and Richard his 27th!

Phoenix is such a little boy now!! He turned 2 in April.

He has grown up so much and he is the light of my day everyday and my little buddy. We do everything together.

I would have never been able to get through this year without him or Richard. I love them both so much. Its amazing how much love that you can have. I never knew I could have so much love in my life until these 2 came into it. My wonderful husband works so hard for our family. Like this week. Tomorrow he will have worked 56 hours this week!!! Wednesday, he woke up at 5am to work a shift that he picked up for someone in trade because he took my birthday off! I love watching him and Phoenix together. I love wathcing the love in his eyes as him and Phoenix play together.

Although Phoenix has his moments and he does throw his tantrums he is getting easier and easier to take care of. He will sit for hours playing with his cars or his "choo choos". That kid has me wrapped around his little finger.
This year we also added an addition to our family. I'm sure most of you already know. Scott is a part of our family now. Scott is a Scottish Terrier and the most lovable little dog. And him and Phoenix are great buddies.
Scottie also knows when i'm sick and he is always following me around and laying beside me when he knows I don't feel good. Its pretty sweet.
He's also become Richard's running companion when scott can keep up with him that is :).

We have also begun to potty train Phoenix during the past couple of months and its been really fun. We are still working on it but, he has done SO great! I really can't say enough about that kid. He's spoiled.....thats for sure.
I'm sure there is more I want to say and I'm sure I will again....sometime ;) But, for now I'll leave it at that. Its been a really hard but good year for our family. Richard and I have grown together so much more than we thought we would have with the trials that we've gone through and I wouldn't trade THAT for anything! Although most days I think that Richard is having an equally hard time coping with my sickness as I am he is doing so great at it and he is always there for me when I need a shoulder to cry on, or to cry/laugh on because its almost become comical how many things can happen to us in one year. I love you Babe, or Puff Daddy, Honey, Rich....whatever the heck you want me to call you ;) Thank you for always being there for me.

If you've made it to the end of this i'm surprised but, thank you.

Hopefully it all made sense being that its 4am....i'll probably find errors tomorrow and correct them.

Have a good holiday weekend all!

(The professional pictures were taken by our wonderful friend Tyler de Haan in Novemeber and we have that last one hanging in our entry way. Thanks Ty, we really love them)

Tell Kerra to update the blog... this is just getting ridiculous...

Growing and Changing

Lets just face it, i'm not very good at blogging. O well....over time maybe it will get better as it may help me remain sane. Whatever that means. Please be patient while I write a very long possibly boring post. Mainly for memory sake because I'm not very good at keeping journals either.

No this post is not titled growing and changing because I am about to announce i'm pregnant. That is the furthest thing from our minds at this point in our lives. Some women can handle their children 2 years apart but those women do not have Phoenix as a child HA.

Either way, our baby has gone from a "baby" to a toddler in such a short amount of time. He is so smart and very very active and keeps us going from sun up to sun down. We love him so much and couldn't ever imagine our lives without him. We never knew how much you could love someone so much until we had Phoenix. Its the greatest thing!

We are trying to enjoy our lives as much as possible right now. I'm working doing hair and jetblue close to full time. In our spare time we are enjoying our neighborhood very much. We have made some great friends here and continue to build wonderful friendships.

Here are a few pictures from the summer that has FLOWN by!

We love to go play at the pool with our friends

(I hope you don't care I posted these pictures, in case you do I won't mention names since we can't see your face :D )

Phoenix enjoys it when daddy lets him sit next to him in the passenger seat or even in his lap in the drivers seat! Every day he will go to the back door and reach up to the handle and say out out out. I don't know what we are going to do come winter when I can't let him go outside everyday! He gets so excited when I pull out the stroller right before a walk. He runs around and dances and runs to the door and trys to open it. He is so darn cute!
We have a walkway behind the houses that we always let him out of his stroller and he just walks along side us the whole way. There are always kids outside playing. Since Phoenix is always wanted to go out we've let him play with the kids outside a few times. This is one of Phoenix' new friends. She took him on a ride in that little Barbie car of hers. So, thats pretty much our summer in a nutshell. I'll update a little more later. Things are only getting busier for our family. Richard is going to start going back to school in the Fall. He also enjoys going to a fitness Krav Maga class in Lehi 3 days a week. And I enjoy it to ;).I've just been called to be in the Young Women's Presidency in our ward which I'm really excited about. I am a little nervous but, I am priveledged to have been chosen for such a call. Wish us luck!

Is it to late to resuscitate?!

No, I haven't forgotten about our blog. I really miss our blog in fact. And, of course I could have updated it but, it would be without words. Thats because our personal computer broke somehow. Maybe it was the stress of all the moves we made. I don't know but, we haven't had a way to upload our pictures to the computer and the only computers we use daily is our work computers. Hence why we have been MIA from the blogging world the past 2 months. For Valentines day I got a brand new camera!! I love it! With that camera came a nice little cord that plugs in to the computer! So, this morning I thought I would try to upload picture to my work computer and it worked! So, I am going to start updating our blog alot more!! Since the last time we posted alot has happened. We moved into our new home which we love! We did quite a bit of remodeling before we moved in and finally on New Years Eve we had our first night here. We were so exhausted that we went to sleep at about 10pm and didn't even stay up to celebrate 2009!! O well, there is always next year! When we bought our townhome there was linolium in the kitchen and bathroom and carpet in the dining area, entry way, living room and even in the master bathroom! The walls were white and the cabinets were a light brown color. So, we replaced all of the flooring downstairs to wood. In the entry way and in the bathrooms we put tile and then sanded, primed and painted the cabinets! We also painted the kitchen to a very light blue (its kinda hard to tell from the picture) and Phoenix' room. I will never remodel again! We didn't even do that much but holy cow it was alot of work! Here are a few pictures of our new home!

                                                                       entry way

living room Dining area kitchen Phoenix' room
                                                                        Master bath

We absolutely love our new neighborhood and new home! We couldn't be happier with our decision! Our neighbors are very nice and friendly! We also love our new ward! Although we can never really pay much attention during church we love going each week. Which is something new to us!! HAHA If we aren't trying to entertain Phoenix there is always someone else's child that is running around so, it is hard to pay attention but, we still enjoy it! Phoenix is getting used to the new schedule to. He normally takes a nap around 10 and since our church is at 9, he usually misses his morning nap. If we are lucky we can get him to fall asleep!

Yes, i did take a picture during Sunday school! I don't think anyone noticed though haha.

As for Phoenix he is getting so big and has got so much personality! He is so so close to walking and almost has 6 teeth! He will be 10 months old tomorrow! He loves music and has so much fun dancing to every song he hears even the hyms at church!

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v8.nonxt2.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dc04de1a720fd0f92%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331905108%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D74449E5DA09310246A8325D25973CB75E65CB052.1AA2502148F276EA9385B536F1AAB99B2405B5A6%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dc04de1a720fd0f92%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DjXg277d2hyptRIR9F-DLKeiIIJs&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Richard and I are loving every minute of him! He is normally very very easy going and goes with the flow with wherever we take him or whatever we have him do! We go to costco atleast once a week and he is such a little charmer to everyone there!

He has been starting this really annoying thing that he wants to be more independent. He never really wants us to give him food or feed him, if we do no matter what it is he will spit it out. Even if it is something I know he likes! We had spaghetti 2 nights ago and he would not let me feed him. He doesn't understand that some things are just not finger foods and you have to use a spoon to eat it! So, I decided to try and let him just feed himself. Although spaghetti is not an easy finger food it didn't stop him from eating one little noddle at a time and also making a huge mess! He has also learned how to climb stairs very very well!

As for Richard and I we are loving our time together and with Phoenix. We love watching the Bachelor and I have told myself that I will not be sucked into that darn show next season. We also love watching 24 and the Office! Richard is really enjoying his new Xbox that I got him for Christmas. He is also loving that I don't complain as much as I used to when he plays Xbox live until 1am with his friends! He is working at a gun store (FBMG) part time to support his hobby. In 2 weeks I will be attending a concealed weapons permit class. So, that means that when Richard is not around I will carry a gun which will make me feel alot safer. Its something I have thought long and hard about. I am so exited for the spring to come and to be able to go outside!!! We have a little park right behind our house!! I also have started to really enjoy cooking! I love to go to this recipe blog. Erica (the author of the blog) is such a great cook! We love making everything from Cafe Rio pork salad to wingers sticky fingers (and if you say these things cannot be replicated you are very mistaken!) We also really love her recipe for Balsamic Asparagus Chicken. Anyway, I don't even know the girl I just stumbled upon her blog and have been going to it atleast 4 times a week for my recipes!! We have tried so many of her recipes that I could go on about how wonderful every single one of them are! Anway, the point is I have been enjoying to cook! I have also been doing alot more hair lately which I am very happy about! If you got all the way to the end of this, thanks for reading our blog :) I will update it more. I promise!!

Update on the house!!

On Friday we closed, earlier than expected on our townhouse! We are really excited. Although, we aren't going to be moving until like the 30th it is well worth the wait. That is because we are going to do all the painting before we move all of our things in and also we are getting hardwood done on the main level and tile in all of the bathrooms!!! We are so exited. I have this little picture in my head of how I want it to look! We have ALOT of painting to do! I am finally going to be able to decorate a nursery for Phoenix!! So, that is first on my list along with giving it 2 toned paint throughout which is going to be ALOT of work! Then we will paint the kitchen. I don't know what else yet. This week we have had the unfortunate oppurtunity to learn a valuable lesson and to have something happen that will be in our hearts and minds forever Something that makes us want to be a better person day to day.

The day before Thanksgiving Richard discovered that one of his best friend from high school had passed on. This was a huge shock to both of us. He hadn't talked to his friend in quite a while. Life just got the best of the both of them and never found the time to get together. He recently had found out that his friend had gotten involved drugs. To Richard this just didn't seem like him and he didn't believe it. It wasn't until the next day that we actually found out what had happened. This newly found addiction had overpowered him and he couldn't get a handle on it. He was becoming a person that he didn't want to be. A person he never wanted to become. He had been in rehab for the last 2 months. He wasn't making any progress. He was kicked out and headed home. A home that would have loved to have had him but only wanted him if he was clean. So, as hard as it was his wife told him that he couldn't stay. That night he took his own life.

I wish that I would have gotten to know him better. I wish that there wasn't regret for not staying in touch or for not being there for him in his time of need. Why do things like this have to happen for us to realize how precious our lives actually are and to realize how lucky we are from day to day not to have the adversary tempting us as strongly as he did to his friend. No one knows what tomorrow will bring. You can't even be certain that the one you love will come home at night. What if something were to happen? Have you told them how much they mean to you? The last time you saw or talked to them did you tell them you loved them?

It doesn't matter if we don't have a place to live. It doesn't matter even if we don't have a home for Christmas. We are lucky to have family like my sister Erin willing and able to help us with a place to live while we are "homeless" and living out of a suitcase. I feel very lucky to be have my wonderful husband and a healthy beautiful son to share my life with everyday.

As for us, we still don't have a house to live in. The home that we put an offer on in Riverton was not accepted although we offered over asking price someone offered more. We are still on the hunt. I really wanted to be able to be in a home for Christmas since I wasn't able to put up my own tree or decorate for Christmas last year but, it doesn't look like thats happening. Erin bought a condo in daybreak (South Jordan) with 3 bedrooms so, she invited us to stay there until we found a house.

Phoenix is growing up so much!! He has 2 teeth coming in and hes crawling all over the place. Although, he'd rather crawl to something and pull straight up!! Poor little guys has bumps and bruises all over his head because he likes to get into EVERYTHING and will try and pull up on everything and then let go!! I'm sorry we don't have our actual computer so we haven't been able to upload any pictures! I just have my work computer for now. But, here are some recent pictures of Phoenix from my phone.

Going Private!!

I know there are more of you that read this blog...PLEASE leave your email or email me at kerradavis@gmail.com to let me know if you want to be invited to read our blog after it goes private. What exactly this so called normal is I have no idea because it has been a long time since we have seen it! I want to say we haven't actually seen normal since July of 2007......O well, soon enough things will be back to normal and we will stay put for atleast a couple of years. Thats because, we are buying a house in Riverton that we are pretty excited about. We don't have a closing date yet but, it will be hopefully the beginning of December. I know those of you that have helped us move this past year 4 times will be happy for this final more permanent move! :) But until then we are living out of suitcases and we have everything we own besides our clothes in storage! We even have our computer in storage the only computer we have to use is our work computers. I have recent pictures but, I can't upload them because of the lack of computer and we can't do it on the work computers. However, last month i did upload a couple pictures of Phoenix on to the internet that I will post. But, other than that we don't have anything else. Thats really all thats going on with us, we are just trying to get back to a normal life!! Phoenix is getting so big!! He will turn 7 months old on the 19th. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by! Recently we had his 6 month appointment. He weighs 22 pounds and is 28 1/2 inches long! He is in the 97th percentile for those of you who knows what that means. Who knows where he got his size from because it wasn't from me!! He seems to grow more and more every day!!

He is bigger now than he was in this picture. He is also about to start crawling. (We think our life is crazy now....I know it will get even better when he starts crawling!!) Phoenix gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth but he just can't figure it out!! Poor little guy gets so frustrated with himself because he can't seem to get it down!! He is so close, as soon as he figures it out I know he will be all over the place and it won't be long after that he will start walking. He is a strong little boy and he has already been pulling himself up. He also stands up for a while with us only holding only one hand!!

As for Halloween, Richard and I were Audrey Raines and Jack Bauer from the show 24 and Phoenix was a little Tiger. Luckily I uploaded a picture of Richard and I onto the internet....

Phoenix was a Tiger (I didn't upload a picture of him in his costume so, I will steal a picture of him from a friends blog. Hope thats ok :) ) This is Phoenix and his little bat friend!
Thanks for reading, sorry I haven't updated in a while. Maybe not many of you know that Pop (My Grandpa that has lived with my family almost the whole time we have lived in Utah) passed away this summer on July 7th. I have been wanting to post about this for a while but, haven't gotten up the courage to actually do it. So, I figured what better time to do it than on his 81st birthday. I have very fond memories of my dear grandpa. For those of you that knew him know that he was one of the kindest, sweetest caring person you knew. I am so grateful for the time that I lived at my parents because of the time I was able to spend with him. Many days of my pregnancy Pop and I were there just us two. We ate lunch together, talked, watched TV, did the laundry and even started dinner for the family together. In some ways I think that it was meant to be for us to live there the time that we did only because of that. Any other way I would not have been able to spend as much time with him as I did. Every Christmas my mom and Erin and I always do alot of baking. This year we also did a Gingerbread house. I asked Pop if he would help me decorate it. Little did I know that it would be the last time we spent Christmas together. As I entered my 9th month of pregnancy he went into the ER with what we all thought was routine. For the last little bit of his life his heart was only operating at a little over 10% and every couple months would go into the hospital because he wasn't getting enough oxygen. He was diagnosed with Pnemonia and was admitted to the ICU. The beginning of April while Richard and I rushed to the hospital with what I thought was my water breaking my parents also did the same only to be by pop's side as he took a turn for the worse. The last couple months of his precious life were spent what some might call in a "vegetable" state. Thats not what I call it though because, sometimes he was there with us and other times I like to think he was on the other side teaching Phoenix. I am sad that they never met in this life but, I know they did on the other side. I miss him so much but, I know that one day we will be together again and that will be such a wonderful occasion. I will strive to live my life in a way so that will be possible. However, until then I know that he is by my side every day. Happy Birthday Pop, I love you.

And for the 4th time in one year.........

We will be moving. I guess its no excuse to not post on our blog but, we have been working diligently to try and find a place to move. We have to be out of the place we are currently in by October 31st. The beginning of the month while Richard was at work I got a knock at the door. There was a couple there that said, hi we are ____ we are the new owners of this home. Much to our suprise because we had signed a year lease and our landlord hadn't told us that he was selling the house. Basically to make a long story short, they told us that we needed to move. We have had nothing but problems from this house, and it just keeps getting better. Luckily we have the oppurtunity to buy. We are thinking about a townhouse at Daybreak but, nothing is confirmed yet. We will see....Since I last posted we have had alot of things happen that are....worthy of posting. O well, I need someone to bug me when I don't update in a while so I will actually do it!!
On Sept 23rd Richard and I celebrated our 3rd year anniversary. I can't believe it has already been 3 years. Time goes by so quickly. We went to the cheescake factory. O man is that place good!!! I got a new cell phone and Richard decided he wanted to not get a gift in order to save up and get a really big one for Christmas. Richard also brought these flowers home. Does any one recognize them? They are the same ones that we had in our wedding.

I think it has been about 2 months since I posted anything about Phoenix. He has started eating big boy food and loves it. In fact, he would love if he could just eat our food instead of his own. He will turn 6 months old on Sunday and is almost the size of a toddler. Erin and I decided that it would be fun to go do baptisms on her day off because she had never been to the Salt Lake Temple. We got in so quickly, they weren't even busy at all. She took this picture and a few days later we saw one for sale that was the exact same for like $300!!On Saturday and Sunday we celebrated Erin's 20th Birthday!!! She decided she wanted to go to Teppanyaki. Great choice!!! I also let her decide what type of dessert she wanted me to make. I made this delicious Chocolate Chip Bundt cake with cream cheese frosting. It replicates one that Nothing Bundt Cakes has in their store in Sandy except I did the frosting a little different.

Doesn't that make you just salivate!! I don't know, somehow being a mother seems to take all of the time you ever used to have for yourself and in between those times you somehow have to manage getting dressed, brushing your hair and eating. Which most of the time doesn't happen until 11am. Either way, my house is still not unpacked and in my opinion a constant mess. Thats ok though because the only thing that matters right now is spending this precious time with my son. I will always be able to clean my house later or unpack those darn boxes later but I will never have Phoenix as a little baby again for the rest of his life. He is already growing up way to fast. Someone else explained this a little better than I did.
In M Russell Ballard's conference talk in April 2008 he quoted
"Author Anna Quindlen reminds us not to rush past the fleeting moments. She said: “The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less”(Loud and Clear [2004], 10–11).
I hope I can remember to always cherish this time with not only Richard and Phoenix but also my future children. Often it seems that time goes by so slowly when you are a child but once you become an adult all that time just flies right by. I really love the talk given by President Ballard and I hope that along with a song by Trace Adkins that I love will help me remember to live in the moment.

Where has the time gone?

I hope to always love, cherish, teach, listen to and have patience with my precious little baby and future children so one day they will look back on their childhood with great memories.

Everything else can be done later.

Growing, Growing, Growing!!!

So, Phoenix had his 4 month appointment yesterday!!! I can't believe out little baby is already 4 months old!! However, he is not so little! He is in the 99th percentile for weight and 97th for his height. For those of you that don't know what that means, (and someone correct me if i'm wrong) I believe this means that he weighs more than 99% of all other babies and is taller than 97% of all other babies!! Don't ask me where he gets his height from......Neither Richard or I are very tall.

Has he passed Brynlee yet Felisha?!

In the next couple of days after we get his high chair we will be starting to feed him some rice cereal and then soon after that some fruits and veges!! Well, yesterday we took our first oppurtunity to attend our ward for the first time since we have moved to Holladay. I normally work on Sunday from 5am until 11am. Well yesterday I was able to get someone to pick up my shift for a couple hours so we were on time for church at 9am. I can't remember the last time we walked into church on time but, for some reason yesterday we managed to get ourselves and Phoenix ready in time. As we walked into the building at 8:58am we headed towards to the Chapel, only to notice everyone in the chapel is standing. As we walk in and try and find a seat we look up on the stand only to see our dear Prophet President Thomas S Monson. Otherwise known as "Tom" to the other ward members. We were told that President Monson lived 5 doors down from us and we see his security cars drive by our house all day everyday but we never expected he would show up to our ward our first Sunday there. Needless to say I was happy we were on time. Its actually quite a small ward and it wasn't to unusual for everyone there that he had shown up. He does live in the house and hasn't moved downtown as many may think. Normally when he comes to the ward he shows up a little late and sits in the back and then leaves right after the meeting. Well this time the ward was given a treat because he was on the stand and would be the concluding speaker. It was so amazing to be able to see a prophet just a few rows away from you and in such a small setting. Afterwards we headed off to Sunday school. Well not to long after we sat down in Sunday school Phoenix started fussing because he was tired. So, I took him out to try and get him to sleep. Well it was my lucky day because President Monson was just walking up and down the halls talking to the straglers that hadn't gone to class yet. He passed by me 3 or 4 times just making small talk and asking why it was that mothers were able to get their babies to sleep so easily and it was so difficult for the fathers. And that God only knows why that is. He is such a sweet man, he has so much on his shoulders and just walked up and down those halls like he had all the time in the world. Talking to 3 little girls and sang a song to one of them about the color of her shirt being tangerine. The bishop walked by and started talking to him saying oh i'm just flirting with the ladies here. Did you know there was a song about the color of her shirt called tangerine?
Anyway, none of this really matters. It just shows how cool it was to be able to see President Monson on that level just as a normal person. What a unique oppurtunity to not only be able to meet him but to be in his home ward. The ward that he attends when he has no where else to attend on Sundays. The people in this ward are so nice. People just came up to us and introduced themselves. I have never been in a ward that people just do that. By Relief Society everyone the woman conducting knew my name before I even stood up. There was also a little ward social last night that we decided to go to for about 20 minutes and so many people that we have never met already knew our names. I have never been to such a wonderful ward. I am excited to meet some new people and know the people living around me so that I feel comfortable at nights or during the day when I am by myself with Phoenix. (as if President Monson's security cars driving around the block every hour didn't already do that.)
Anyway, that was our day yesterday. Hope this wasn't to long for you all to enjoy. Hope you all have a great week!!

We need some advice.

We need some advice or ideas of what we should do.

So we got moved into our new place on Friday and are so happy to be in our own place. Except now we find ourselves experiencing a new kind of dilemma... Mold... Has anyone had any experience with mold in their homes? We have a utility closet in the basement that has a clogged drain with a pool surrounding the drain and mold growing in the pool. Our landlord is telling me that all homes have mold in them but mold like this? I can understand mold from your bathroom like mildew or something similar or even the mold on the bread in your kitchen. But mold growing in your basement? We decided that we'd get a mold detection kit and see what the results were. Here is a picture of the peetree dish. The results of the mold test. Any ideas of what we should do?

Richard had an idea!

It happens alot! Don't worry though Jon has fixed it and has now got it doing faster than ever at 45mph in the neighborhood.

Richard has been having some fun learning how to drive this motorcycle around the neighborhood. I remember the days that we used to sleep outside on the tramp during the summer. For some reason though I don't think if I did it again it would be as fun as it used to be. Either way, it was fun to just get a ton of blankets and watch a movie under the stars.

During the second week in June we took a trip to Florida and Georgia. It was quite the adventure. Since I work for Jetblue and fly for free we like to go to the airports that Jetblue flies to. So, in order to get to Destin, FL we had to fly into New Orleans (via New York and Las Vegas) and drive 5 hours to Destin. We stayed there from Thursday till Sunday and had lots of fun going to the beach and the pool. Then on Sunday we headed out to Georgia. Which was supposed to be 3 hours away but took 7. Who knows why?!?! We spent from Sunday until Friday there visited friends and showed Richard where i grew up. I'm pretty sure we all probably gained 10 pounds from all of the greasy southern food we ate! It was really fun and I'm glad Richard was able to see everything that I always talk to him about. I think we will make it a yearly trip to go down there. Waffle House

While we were there we took some cute family pictures (which I haven't gotten back yet), we went to this huge Water park called White Water that we used to get Season passes to when I was little. Richard's brother has recently moved to Atlanta and he took us out late one night (ok it was only ten but thats late to me now) downtown to eat and see the city. All in all it was really fun. Then when we headed home we had to drive 3 1/2 hours to Charlotte to catch a Jetblue flight to JFK. When the flight was pretty close to sold out from JFK to Salt Lake we ended up going from New York to San Diego and then home. Needless to say it was a LOOOOONG day! But, Phoenix was such a good little baby. I can't believe how well behaved he was on all those plane and car rides.
So thats pretty much our summer so far. Before its over we plan on moving, have another family reunion and going on another vacation to see Chelsie and Jared one weekend in Miami.

As for Phoenix, he is getting so big. I'm sure you can see from the pictures. Its amazing how you can love someone so much thats so little and our love for him seems to grow more and more everyday. We are so blessed to have such a good baby that is in my opinion one of the cutest babies I have ever seen, but I know I am biased.
I think this picture speaks for itself. He has quite the personality. In the past week he has started smiling so much. I know I am biased but I think he is one of the best looking babies I have ever see. We will be having Phoenix' blessing on June 28th at 6pm. We have decided to make it more special and sacred we would have it outside of sacrament and share it with only people that we knew. It will either be in Holladay at Richard's grandparents house or at their ward building. Anyone that is interested in coming is more than welcome, just let us know.

On Wednesday we are heading to Fort Walton Beach Florida. It is in the pan handle on the Gulf of Mexico. I am so excited to take a vacation and go to the beach. Last year we went to Orlando and we were so busy every day with parks that we didn't have much time to just relax. We just decided last week that we are going, it will be fun to take Phoenix to the beach.
Growing up in Georgia we went to Florida alot and I really miss it. Last year was Richard's first time in the south, I think he secretly really loves it and wants to move there. I would really love to live in the south again. I am very much still a southern girl so I am glad I have the opportunity to go back. We will report when we get back!! We love all of you, thank you for being our friends even though with Phoenix here we probably really suck as friends. I hope you can forgive us, slowly things are getting back to normal and we are getting used to being parents so hopefully we can start being sociable again.

He has eyes!!!!!!

So the past few days we have discovered that our little boy indeed does have eyes, we were told it would happen and.......it did!!! I swear the kid is going through a growth spurt as he is eating every 2 1/2-3 hours!!
So, last week I was not feeling very good so, I went to bed early. I woke up at 3am to thisRichard had Phoenix last Thursday night while we were watching our weekly thursday shows and he had fallen asleep on him like normal. Well on a typical night when we are ready to go to bed I will get Phoenix ready for bed and change his diaper and by that time he is normally hungry. On this night I went to bed pretty early and then woke up at 3 am and looked in Phoenix's bassinet to find.......no baby there. I look over on the couch to see this. So I wake them up and asked Richard why he was sleeping on the couch and he told me that he knew I didn't feel good so he just didn't move and slowly layed down on the couch trying to keep Phoenix from waking up so that I could sleep. What a good daddy!!
A couple days later Richard got him dressed for the day.
Today Phoenix discovered he likes to be held and nothing else while he is awake. Today he was awake from 7:30 am until about noon and didn't have any interest in being in his bouncer or playing with his toys on the floor. He only wanted me to be right by him while he was playing or holding him. I never knew it would be so hard to actually put some clothes on or take a 5 minute shower. Finally I got in the shower and ate for the first time today at 12:30 but not after I acomplished this.......That said, I love being a mother and can't imagine our lives without him.

Never too early...

So I am a firm believer that you are never too young to start certain things. Potty training for example... will begin in four months. No I'm not getting ahead of myself, I just think that starting little Phoenix in some of these life altering events will be good for him. Which is why Kerra and I took him golfing on Saturday with his auntie Erin and golf extraordinaire Trevor! No he didn't golf, but he and mommy enjoyed the sporadic bursts of sunshine on Utah's finest $7 Par 3 course!
Yeah, you can't really see his face, but he's loving life out on the green's. I was way off but others might claim that I was trying to make her miss to improve my own score... I deny such accusations...
And here's Kerra and Phoenix chillin in the cart. Y0u would think that the only thing to watch at 2 in the afternoon is soaps right? Oh no, divorce court comes on at 2pm. Yesterday and today on Divorce court they aired parts 1 and 2 of Gary Coleman vs Shannon Price. Gary and Shannon met on the set of Church ball and started dating. They have been married for 7 months and are now on divorce court to try and resolve their differences. There is a 28 year difference between Gary and Shannon.

How old do you think Barbara Walters is? So, now I will do a little post about everything. I won't give you all the nasty details but, I will give you a little bit of what happened.
After about a week of constant pelvic pain because little Phoenix was so low down and in my pelvis and also about a week and a half of feeling like I was leaking amniotic fluid I approached my doctor with the idea of inducing me. In reality we had no idea what my actual due date was.
It could have been the 15th, or the 24th or the 29th. Neither myself or the doctor actually knew but I just said it was the 24th because it was in the middle. My doctor had me scheduled for an induction on the 22nd. Anyway, after I thought my water was leaking I went in for a test they call a non-stress test that checks the levels of fluid and also it makes sure the baby is not under stress. The first test showed he was doing great and my fluid level wasn't great but it was ok. The next week Friday morning the 18th, I went in for another test and my fluid level had dropped significantly. They then told me to go straight from the test to IMC to be induced. Quite a shock to myself because I had planned on having the whole weekend to get all kinds of things done. But our little guy had another plan. Either he really was past due OR I had been leaking fluid, either way it wasn't safe for him to be in there anymore.
So, Friday afternoon I called Richard at work and told him we would be having the baby that day. (Much to our surprise we really wouldn't be having him for 32 more hours.) He thought I was joking but after convincing him I was serious he said ok, I will leave work. I think he was calmer than I was. At the hospital they had to start me on some medicine called Cervadil that prepares me for labor. That medicine had to be in me for 12 hours and then they could start the induction. So, saturday morning at 5am they began the induction. Lets just say it wasn't an easy labor....about 15 hours but, it was so worth it. There were a couple complications and I lost a good amount of blood and had to have a procedure done a couple hours actually after delivery because of something that went wrong. But, because men read this blog I will save you from that part. I was ready for 2 hours to start pushing but, my doctor was delivering someone else at another hospital. That is why Richard will say I delivered an alien because his head was in the birth canal for so long that his head was so mis-shapen. I was quite sick and so tired but finally at 8:30 pm on Saturday the 19th our little boy was born. 8 lbs 8oz and 21 1/2 inches long. How I had that big of a baby blows my mind but, alot of his weight is because he is so long so he doesn't actually look that big. We are so happy and Richard is such a good daddy. We love him so much and I can't imagine our lives without him. There are not enough words to describe the love I have for him. Right now is the best time of my life and I wish it would slow down. I cherish every moment because I know it will be gone before I know it. This is everything I have ever wanted and I have waited for a long time for it. I love you babe and my little Phoenix.

Well... here he is!!!

I'm sure that those who know already have been checking this blog waiting for pictures of Phoenix. So I do the usual man thing and try to figure out the problem... I search the Blogger help and see that others are having the same problem... when you use a quick time file like from a video taken from your phone it apparently won't play the audio recorded. Well that sucks. Especially since Blogger has yet to answer any of those people who are having the same problem and that dates back to almost a year ago. So I'm sending out an S.O.B. (Save Our Blog) to anyone who can help me get sound!!!

"Have you ever fired two guns at the same time?"

Well... now I can say I have! But, I certainly feel like it.

On Saturday I think I got a little bit of what they call the "Nesting syndrome". Richard and I spent all day on Saturday doing some MAJOR spring cleaning and rearranging our living area to make room for Phoenix. Richard was so good at helping me even though he thought I was acting CRAZY about getting everything perfect. I feel relieved and much more prepared just from doing that!! I felt like I had to get it done this weekend because every Saturday in March except for this past Saturday will be filled. But, being that the baby will be here in almost a month we have started training her to sleep on the floor. We thought it would be really difficult but, all we did is took her blanket off our bed and put it on her bed that we bought from costco. I don't think anyone reads it anyway!

I don't even really have much to update on.

If you didn't know, Richard and I found out that we are having a little boy and we couldn't be happier. He was bigger than he should have been at the ultrasound when we went on 11/21 so, hopefully we will have an early baby! I'm starting to get pretty anxious to have him here but, he still needs to cook for a little longer :). He is a very active little boy already! He must be anxious too because he knows he just got LOTS for Christmas from his grandma! I also got a fetal monitor from my mom for Christmas and he really doesn't like it when I listen in on him because he starts kicking at the monitor everytime I put it on my belly. It says you won't be able to hear the heartbeat until the beginning of the 3rd trimester (that being a month away) Richard and I have been able to hear his heartbeat from it! Either we have good ears or he is still growing faster than normal! Anyway, yesterday I convinced Richard to go with my to Babys R US. He even parked in the expectant mother parking spot! I should have left that spot open for the women who are about to pop but, I didn't feel so bad because there are plently of those spots to go around at that store! He didn't really want to go because he wants to wait until a little closer to when I'm supposed to have my shower but, I think he enjoyed going just as much as I did. He is gonna be such a good daddy. :) I love you babe. We actually found two of the big things that we will need there and we agreed on them! I attached a picture of them. I wanted to buy them right away but, I still have to wait! :(

Anyway, thats really the only thing that I have to even talk about that would be interesting!

I will try to get some pictures on here soon!

Number ONE!!

Well!!! I have decided its about time to make a blog for Richard and I so that whoever cares can read it and know whats going on in our lives!!
For those of you that don't know, i'm pregnant and we are expecting our first in April. Richard and I are so excited and we can't wait to be parents. I know Richard is going to be such a good dad and I am so lucky to have him. We have an appointment to find out if it is a girl or a boy on November 28th so, hopefully the little one cooperates for the tech and we will let everyone know what we find out!! He/she already has so much personality and has been seen sucking her thumb during previous ultrasounds.
Anyway, thats enough about the baby. Just an update on us and what has been happening the past little while.
Richard works at Xango and I work at JetBlue. We have a wonderful little girl named Roxi (our dog) we love her very much. I will for sure post some pictures of her!!
This past few months we have taken some little trips with my flight benefits.
In June we went to LA for a day, then to Disney World in Orlando then spent the day in JFK airport!! In September we went to San Diego for the night for our anniversary , then we went to St George and Vegas for the weekend with some friends and just a couple weekends ago I went and visited a friend of mine (Chelsie) in Minnesota. We have put off the remainder of our trips though until after the baby comes because she doesn't really like when we travel!!
I have pictures of most of these things I will post as soon as I can figure it out!!
Anyway, thats all I can really think of that has been going on in the life of Kerra and Richard.
More to come. (maybe I can even get Richard to make a post!!)
